John 4:13-14

"Jesus answered, 'Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life.'"

John 4:13-14

In the New Age, I was taught a lot about “the self.” Self-enlightenment, your higher self, self-love, self-care and filling our own cup.

Though I believe it’s important to always take care of ourselves, the well we go to for sustenance shouldn’t be within. The answers don’t lie within. In my experience, I’ve found that when we rely solely on ourselves — our limited understandings or resources, our cup will always inevitably become empty and dry. (Proverbs 3:5-6).

It is the Lord who we must rely on as the source to fill us up. His word, wisdom, kindness and steadfast love. This spiritual water that is the Holy Spirit is what truly quenches the thirst, feeds the soul, and keeps our cup full.

Now, when I think of self-care and self-love, I think to go to the one who cares for and loves us most — Jesus! Our Prince of Peace and Saviour!

May you find everything you’re looking for and more in Him. And may He always make your cup overflow!
